How to setup DIY Solar Kits

Find what the total wattage of all the equipment will be for you system. The avg wattage plus 33%. 120 W +1/3 = 160 watt

12 Volt Load. Find watts-hours/day = 24 hours x avg watts. = 3840

Amp-hours/day (AH) = watts-hours/day / Load Voltage = 320

Panel size in watts — 300 watt Renogy $221.76

NREL — Winter hours of solar about 4 hours of sunlight based off of state of GA

% of loss — 20% but can change with solar trackers implemented.

Panels needed — watts-hours/day / (panel size * hours of sunlight * (1-% of loss) 300*4*.8 = 960 3840/960= 4

Battery Capacity (AH) — 350

Depth of Discharge — 50%

Batteries needed (three day of storage) — Amp-hours/day (AH) / Battery Capacity (AH) * Depth of Discharge 320/175 = 2

Since these are 6V batteries we need two in series to get 12V and they connect rest in parallel
