HOW TO WIRE FLOOR HEATING

We demonstrate as a DIY or the do-it-yourselfer how to wire an electric in floor heating controller once you have your supply conductors and ground fault circuit interrupter installed.

STEPS
1 – Install 2 conductor wiring based upon the in floor heating element requirements. Also install the correct circuit breaker ( if it is 120 or 240 volt application would dictate whether it is a single or 2 pole GFCI breaker)
2-install floor heating elements and sensor wiring based upon manufacturers instructions into the floor in question (does it get planted into a self levelling concrete ?
3-Install 4″ squared box with a single gang plaster ring. Both the supply conductors and the heating elements with the sensor wiring will run into this box
4Install the supply conductors onto the LINE side of the thermostat controller and the heating wires to the LOAD side of the thermostat.
5Sensor wiring terminates to the special small terminals on the back of the controller (polarity not important)
6Ensure the first things that you wire are the supply ground wire (BARE) around the junction box ground screw and then splice to the green or bare wire from the element wire cluster.
7If all else fails please contact a certified journeyman electrician

SPECIAL NOTE: all manufacturers have subtle differences and must be adhered to for each brand. Also, ensure that power is ALWAYS OFF before contacting any wiring.
