Ryan’s new house was built in the 1920′s. The house was in excellent condition but it had a 60 amp electrical service that was installed in 1920 when the house was built. At the time four 15 amp circuits were considered to be more than enough. The circuits were run correctly for the time, but that meant there were no grounded circuits.
In 2014 four 15 amp circuits just aren’t enough. Modern kitchens with microwaves, toaster, mixers, blenders, coffeemakers, and all the other appliances require a minimum of two 20 amp circuits. TV’s computers, stereo systems and lighting means each room needs at least a seperate 20 amp circuit. Then if you add a dryer, range, central air conditioning, and the 60 amp service is just way to small
Ryan decided he wanted to install a new service. To bring his house up to the 21st century he planned to install a 200 amp grounded circuit breaker panel with room for 40 circuits. To get rid of the overhead wires attached near the roofline he wanted an underground feed.
With the estimated cost running at approximately $2500.00 he called on Old Sneelock to help with a DIY installation. End cost approximately $800.00 for permits, materials, inspections, and connecting to the service provider.

From one day to another this mini circuit breaker stopped working, I had been using it wrongly as a on/off switch and was wondering if there was a mechanism inside to disable it after too many on/off switches, as MCBs are only rated for a finite number of operations.
