I would like to say that if you are having a problem with your TV be sure to check the model number first. The model number appears in this little box over here. Every TV is different. You will see the model number and serial number over in a box like this. The model number are very important because that is what will help you to identify what parts are needed to repair your TV. If you are having a problem with your TV, please feel free to comment in the
comments section below this video or send us a message on YouTube with your TV model
number and the problem that you are having. This way we will be able to help you diagnose the problem and suggest a fix. So the first thing you are going to want to do is make sure you have unplugged your TV from any power source and that you have also grounded yourself properly. Next you will want to take out the screws in the TV that are holding the back cover on it. So we are looking at a 42″ plasma TV here and we are going to talk a little bit about the power supply right here. The power supply takes in power here from your outlet and then shares it throughout the rest of the TV. As you can see there are
many areas where other boards are connected to the power supply, so that they may run
off of the power provided here. A few common symptoms that a Plasma TV could be showing that could be the power supply. If your TV will not turn on at all and if you do or don’t have standby it could be the power supply that is causing the TV not to turn on.
One of the most common problems is the fuse going bad or blowing. That is one of the first
things you will want to check on the power supply. If you replace that fuse, plus in
the TV and it blows immediately then you know that you have an issue that is bigger on the
power supply causing the fuse to blow. Some other common components that can go bad on a power supply are the capacitors. There are lots of other videos and Shop Jimmy even has some as well, but they will show how to replace a swollen capacitor. So if the tops become raised a little bit, that means there is an issue with the capacitor. There can also be other issues with the capacitors without them showing that swollen cap, but it is common that you will see that they are swollen and then need to be replaced. An easier way to fix your power supply problem rather than trying to diagnose the individual components, would be to just replace the entire board. Replacing the entire board simply includes disconnecting cables and removing screws that hold the board to the panel. You can then simply remove your board, install the new one by attaching the screws and reconnecting
the cables. If you do not have technician skills, replacing the entire power supply board is a lot easier way to fix your problem, rather than diagnosing each individual component.
Now it might be cheaper to diagnose each component and replace them, but it will take a lot longer and will require a lot higher skill level. Again, just a reminder that if you have any
