This video includes a “thread” which many game tutorials use. In the next video I take out the stuff about threads because it’s not necessary and confusing in this context. More complicated games use threads, but simple games needn’t.
A disclaimer: I teach APComputer Science at a high school. I have tried to simplify what I see as unnecessarily complicated game structures for the beginner – there are much better ways to structure this sort of game once you’re comfortable with inheritance, but I’ve left them out here. If you would like to have the completed source code for this game, here’s a link to a later version. There may be some screen stutter because I don’t use a timer in the game loop. It’s also just filled with IP violations. Some kid wanted me to make it Sponge Bob themed, so there you go.
